3 Signs You Definitely Have Wheel Alignment Issues

The wheel alignment in your car or truck can get disturbed by even the slightest and most unavoidable incidents. Usually, it happens in everyday situations like driving over potholes, going down a sketchy dirt road, or even hitting a curb. It can start out as a small and easily overlooked issue, but can rapidly snowball into major tire wear and dangerous drivability problems.

Ideally, you should get your alignment checked every 6,000 miles. But this isn’t an entirely reasonable expectation with the busy lives everyone leads today. So if you can’t get your alignment checked regularly, keep your eyes out for these 3 signs that you definitely have wheel alignment issues:

1. Your tires are squealing
That screaming noise your tires make when you’re turning is not a cool racecar style sound effect. It’s a big warning sign that your alignment is off, and that you should get it checked and fixed.

2. “Pulling” or your steering wheel isn’t straight
If your car likes to pull you left or right as you’re driving that’s not only the most obvious sign that your alignment needs checked, but it’s also one of the most disastrous signs. When it gets to this point, your alignment is so bad that it’s going to be affecting your driving, and your reaction time.
If you’re driving straight, but your steering wheel isn’t, drive straight to a shop and get your alignment fixed. You might have a handle on it now, but it’s dangerous.

3. Uneven tire wear
Not quite as dangerous as the pulling and steering problems, but it’s going to end up costing you more money. When your alignment is correct the wear on your tires is balanced across all 4 pretty much evenly, making them last longer as a whole. But if your tires are misaligned, then one or two tires are going to be taking the brunt of the wear and tear, meaning they’ll need to be replaced sooner, costing you more money than just getting the alignment checked and fixed would have.
